How does Quimbee safeguard against the creation of duplicate accounts?

account security, duplicate accounts, two accounts, multiple accounts, charged twice

Historically, Quimbee has safeguarded against the accidental creation of duplicate accounts by ensuring that no single email address can have more than one active Quimbee subscription tied to it at a given time. (We chose this option because email addresses are unique, whereas names are not.)

But law students are busy, and most have more than one email account. After a late-night study session, it's all too easy to forget that you already created a Quimbee account with your personal email address and set another up with your school email. We're open to issuing refunds in those situations, but we wanted to prevent this problem from happening in the first place.

To that end, we've introduced a safeguard. If our system detects that your payment method is already tied to another account, you'll be prompted to log in there (where you may update your email address on your Settings page if you'd like). That way, there's even less chance of you paying twice for your Quimbee account.
